About Us

The USPA focuses on career development and networking for UCSC postdoctoral scholars. Our officers organize several workshops and events throughout the year, all on a volunteer basis.  We always need more postdoc (and senior graduate student) volunteers to help organize events.  Please contact uspa@ucsc.edu if you would be interested in joining.  Serving as a board member is likely to help for fellowship and faculty job applications, and provide an opportunity to grow your professional network.

If you are not on our email list please ask us to add you to this google group  in order to receive notification of all our events.

Our Mission

The mission of the USPA is to foster a community of postdoctoral scholars at the University of California Santa Cruz that advocates for the wholistic support of postdoc professional and personal development goals during this pivotal and diverse career stage. We aim to provide professional skill-building opportunities relevant to careers both in and out of academia, advocate for resources to address challenges that postdoctoral scholars face, and create an inclusive social sphere where postdoctoral scholars can move beyond their individual groups and departments to belong to a wider community of peers living and working in the UC system and its affiliates.
